Giles Harrington

A previous MI6 officer and an early member of the Office of Decision Integrity, tasked with investigating technologies capable of manipulating human choice.  Intelligent, disciplined, and quietly determined, he combines analytical rigor with field experience.  As the threat of Decision Locking grows, Harrington discovers he may possess a unique resistance to its effects—making him both invaluable and increasingly dangerous.

Lucy Howard

A former MI6 officer and co-founder of the Office of Decision Integrity, dedicated to exposing technologies that manipulate human decision-making.  Intelligent, composed, and fiercely independent, she combines sharp operational instincts with unwavering determination.  Beneath her disciplined exterior lies a deep mistrust of control, making the emergence of Decision Locking both a professional mission and a profoundly personal battle.

Alicia Rayes

A scientist, strategist, and veteran operative whose expertise with the Mirror and its consequences has made her one of the world's foremost authorities on coherence technology.  Controlled, disciplined, and intensely private, she approaches every problem with precision and logic.  As old Cold War secrets resurface, Alicia becomes a critical voice in the fight to preserve human choice.

Max Calder

A former MI6 officer and veteran Bureau operative whose repeated encounters with the Mirror have left him carrying fragmented memories and hard-earned instincts.  Cynical, resourceful, and relentless, Calder has spent years uncovering hidden conspiracies across the Cold War world.  Though no longer at the center of events, his experience remains crucial as new threats emerge from old secrets.

Miles Vickers

A former intelligence officer and one of the principal architects behind the Office of Decision Integrity.  Calm, methodical, and politically astute, he understands that the greatest threats rarely arrive openly.  Vickers specializes in building alliances, navigating competing agencies, and seeing patterns others miss.  As Decision Locking spreads, his leadership helps transform scattered concerns into a coordinated resistance.

James Angleton

The CIA's master counterintelligence strategist, a man who trusts patterns more than people.  Brilliant, enigmatic, and relentlessly suspicious, he recognizes that the anomalies surrounding Decision Locking represent more than espionage—they threaten the foundations of intelligence itself.  As allies become indistinguishable from enemies, Angleton becomes one of the few capable of seeing the larger conspiracy emerging beneath the Cold War.

Eleanor Whitcombe

A leading MI6 analyst and a partner member of the Office of Decision Integrity.  Precise, perceptive, and quietly formidable, she excels at uncovering hidden connections buried within intelligence, politics, and bureaucracy.  While others chase threats in the field, Whitcombe identifies the patterns behind them. Her insight, judgment, and determination make her indispensable in the struggle against Decision Locking.

Grant Baldwin

A talented but dangerously arrogant CIA technical specialist whose obsession with Decision Locking drives him beyond the boundaries of loyalty, law, and reason.  Convinced he alone understands the technology's true potential, Baldwin manipulates allies and enemies alike in pursuit of control.  His actions help unleash a threat that could reshape governments—and perhaps the future itself.

Daniel Mercer

A CIA political psychologist whose expertise lies in understanding how groups think, decide, and influence one another.  Initially skeptical of Decision Locking, he becomes one of its most determined investigators as evidence mounts.  Analytical, cautious, and intellectually rigorous, Mercer helps expose the technology's broader implications, transforming abstract anomalies into a clear and alarming threat.

Captain Hal Browning

An Air Force test pilot stationed at Edwards Air Force Base whose sighting of a strange atmospheric shimmer triggers the investigation that follows.  Unassuming and dependable, he possesses the flat, dry composure of men who trust aircraft more than institutions.  Tanned by the desert sun, with pale, steady eyes, Browning becomes an unlikely witness to something impossible.

Calvin Dyer

An American technician whose death becomes one of the first clear signs that Decision Locking has moved beyond theory and into covert operation.  Intelligent, capable, and ultimately caught in forces larger than himself, Dyer never intended to become a central figure.  Yet the evidence surrounding his murder helps expose a conspiracy stretching across intelligence services and continents.

Gambit

A shadowy intermediary operating between intelligence services, smugglers, and black-market networks across the Cold War world.  No one is entirely certain whose side he serves—perhaps not even Gambit himself.  Resourceful, elusive, and dangerously well-connected, he trades in information, access, and opportunity, always playing a deeper game.  In a world of secrets, Gambit remains one of the greatest.

Carson Pike

A seasoned field operative whose strengths lie in persistence, practicality, and an instinct for surviving dangerous situations.  Unimpressed by politics and untouched by ideology, he focuses on results rather than theory.  Trusted to operate where intelligence becomes action, Pike serves as a dependable presence in an increasingly uncertain world shaped by secrecy, manipulation, and competing Cold War agendas.

Thomas Pritchard

A technical operative caught between loyalty, ambition, and survival.  Drawn into Grant Baldwin’s covert network, he becomes a key link in the transfer of Decision Locking technology through hidden Cold War channels.  Intelligent but ultimately outmatched by forces beyond his control, Pritchard's capture provides crucial evidence that exposes a conspiracy spanning continents and intelligence services.

Major Viktor Kolyadin

A ruthless Soviet intelligence officer determined to transform Decision Locking into a weapon of political control.  Ambitious, disciplined, and utterly pragmatic, he sees dissent as a flaw to be eliminated rather than a freedom to be protected.  From the shadows of Murmansk, Kolyadin oversees the first operational deployment of the Gate, threatening to reshape the Cold War itself.

Captain Erik Eriksen

A veteran Royal Norwegian Air Force officer stationed at Banak Air Station above the Arctic Circle.  A former resistance courier during the German occupation, he knows every fjord, airfield, and frontier settlement in northern Norway.  Practical, observant, and deeply respected, Eriksen becomes an invaluable guide as Giles and Lucy enter the Cold War's frozen northern frontier.
