About Alexander Bentley

Award-winning author Alexander Bentley is a serial technology company entrepreneur living in California, with experience founding and leading technology companies in both the UK and the USA.  He has held senior roles, including CEO, in both public and private enterprises.  Over the years, he has had many technology and security-related interactions with the government, the UK Ministry of Defence, the US Department of Defense, and many aerospace and defense companies.  His own technology companies have included those that address the secure communications and networking markets.  Additionally, with a physics background, he is very familiar with the principles of quantum mechanics and quantum computing.

Writing under the name Alexander Bentley, he is married to Lucinda and has two grown children, Alexander (Lex) and Virginia (Ginny). Brought up in Henley-on-Thames in England and later living on the edge of a small village outside Stratford-upon-Avon, Alexander moved to the United States after founding a technology company on his dining room table, which eventually went public on the US NASDAQ stock exchange.  After a short period in Andover, just outside Boston, following his company’s acquisition, he ultimately moved to California following another technology business merger he was involved with.  As well as writing novels, he provides advice and guidance to the CEOs of technology companies and startups, including fundraising, drawing on his business and technology background and experience.  He also writes technology research papers and is an accomplished on-stage presenter and keynote speaker at business and technology conferences globally.

Alexander writes gritty, genre-blending thrillers that fuse classic espionage with speculative science fiction.  Drawing on themes of memory, identity, and time, the stories feature flawed heroes, fractured minds, and world-shifting stakes.  If you like Cold War tension, psychological twists, and noir-drenched narratives, you’ll want to dive into the Bureau Archives Trilogy and the Max Calder Short Stories.

Furniture Sliders was Alexander's first Spy-Fi novel, which entangles the world of espionage with science fiction, bringing a new approach to Cold War first-person noir writing.  This was followed up by the second novel in the trilogy, Angus Sliders, which arrived in December 2025.  The third trilogy novel, Cuban Sliders, launched in April 2026.

Alexander is continuing the Cold Was Spy-Fi theme in the follow-up series called The Consensus Files.  This takes the concept of 'Decision Locking' first seen in Cuban Sliders to the next level.  How and why did decisions and actions in Budapest, Baghdad, Algiers, and London happen so fast?
